Bee expert

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The bee expert (abbreviation: BSV ), also known as the bee epidemic expert or in the southern German-speaking area Epuchenwart, examines sick or suspicious bee colonies belonging to beekeepers for signs of bee diseases.

The order is based on the ordinance of the Ministry of Food and Rural Areas for the implementation of the Bee Disease Ordinance of May 17, 2005, Journal of Laws of June 27, 2005 p. 414 No. 9. In § 1 it says among other things: “The Appointments are made by the lower administrative authorities at the suggestion of the state's beekeeping organization. " and “The bee expert is available to the lower administrative authority as an expert and is bound by its instructions”.

education

In Germany, BSV training is regulated in the federal states. Therefore there is no nationwide training.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, the training lasts 11 days including the examination and is divided into topics such as animal disease fund , pharmaceutical and plant protection law, animal health law, bee disease regulation, bee diseases, beekeeping training and advice as well as presentation techniques. The FSIO must also take part in further training courses on a regular basis, at least after 2 years.

tasks

The FSIO represents the beekeeping vis-à-vis the official veterinarian or supports and advises him in the fight against bee diseases . The FSIO supervises the remediation and treatment of bee colonies on behalf of the official veterinarian in the event of reportable bee diseases. The FSIO is "appointed" for this task by the official veterinarian, so it represents an executive organ of the official veterinarian. Animal diseases that are subject to notification are the American foulbrood in bees and, so far, but not yet occurred in Germany, the infestation by the small hive beetle and the tropical elapse -Mite .

The bee expert also examines bee colonies at the request of beekeepers and issues health certificates for them. These are required by beekeepers when they change the location of bee colonies (e.g. migrate to foraging areas ) or want to sell them.
