The Weitra beer workshop is a small private brewery in Weitra , Lower Austria, which has been part of the Zwettler Brewery Association since 2003 .

The brewery is based on the brewing license from 1321, which was granted to the citizens of Weitra by Friedrich the Beautiful . The Hofbräuhaus came into the possession of the Pöpperl family in 1912. It has been owned by the Schwarz family, who also own the Zwettler brewery, since 2003. In 2009 a beer output of 10,000 hectoliters was achieved.

There is a permanent exhibition on the brewing license from 1321 in Weitra Castle .

Products

The standard beer is the Helle with 11.9 ° original wort, 5.0% vol. Alcohol.

A specialty is Hadmar BIO beer named after Hadmar II von Kuenring with 12.5 ° original wort and 5.2% alcohol by volume. The Hadmar is a representative of the "Wiener Art" type of beer, which has now become rare, and is made with special Viennese malt . Only organic hops and organic barley are used. In addition, the beer is fermented openly and stored cold. It is bottled in Zwettl.
