Big Comic Original ( ビ ッ グ コ ミ ッ ク オ リ ジ ナ ル , Biggu Komikku Orijinaru ) is a Japanese manga magazine that has been published twice a month by Shogakukan since 1972 . It appears in alternation with the sister product Big Comic and, like this one, is aimed at adult men, so it belongs to his category. The 300-page editions sold around 500,000 each at the end of 2016. In the mid-1990s, at the height of the manga magazine market in Japan, the sold circulation was 1.7 million. Like Big Comic , the magazine mainly offers stories by older, well-known artists and contains only a few advertisements. The covers always show motifs with animals.
More than 83% of Big Comic Original readers say they are over 30 years old, and around a quarter are female. Most of the readers are employees.
