Big comic

Big Comic ( Japanese ビ ッ グ コ ミ ッ ク , Biggu Komikku ) is a Japanese manga magazine , which, founded in 1968, is published every two weeks by Shōgakukan publisher and with the publication of his manga is aimed primarily at adult male readers.

The first issue of Big Comic published Shogakukan on February 29, 1968. Initially, a monthly publication was planned, but in April 1968 it was converted to a biweekly. Since then, the magazine has been published on the 10th and 25th of each month.

The magazine published works by a number of well-known illustrators, including Osamu Tezuka , Shōtarō Ishinomori , Sanpei Shirato , Takao Saito , Fujiko Fujio and Tetsuya Chiba . Big Comic also includes the long running manga series Golgo 13 .

The illustrator Shūichi Higurashi designed the cover of the magazine for over 40 years, from 1970 to 2011, each of which depicts a caricature of a well-known Japanese personality. He was therefore awarded a special Shogakukan Manga Prize in 1999 together with Makoto Muramatsu , the cover designer of the sister magazine Big Comic Original .
