Big tree

Big Tree (* 1845, † 1929 ) was a sub-chief of the Kiowa - Indians and cousin of Satanta . Under the influence of Satanta, Big Tree developed early into a bellicose and rebellious Kiowa warrior who was involved in or led many raids in Texas and Mexico between 1862 and 1874 . He was imprisoned for the first time in 1871, but released with Satanta in 1873. After delivering the surrender of Satanta to the US Army in 1874 after the defeat in Palo Duro Canyon , he avoided any kind of hostility. Nevertheless, he was one of the 50 Kiowa Kicking Bird had to go into captivity in Florida as a punishment for the entire tribe . Upon his return in 1878, he lived peacefully on the reservation and was a Christian in the Rainy Mountain Church of Oklahoma .
