Big Trout Lake (literally translated: "large trout lake") is a 624 km² lake in the Kenora District in the Canadian province of Ontario .
The total area including islands is 661 km². The Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug ( Big Trout Lake First Nation ) community is on the shores of the lake . The catchment area covers 4350 km². The lake is drained by the Fawn River , a tributary of the Severn River .
