Bigej Island (also: Begej [ ˈbiːdʒiː ]; Marshallese Pikeej , pʲi͡ɯɡʌ͡ɛːtʲ ) is the easternmost island in the Kwajalein Atoll in the Ralik chain of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI). It is located 2,100 nautical miles (3,900 km) southwest of Honolulu , Hawaii .
Bigej is uninhabited and has an area of almost 65 hectares . With a measured length of 2.7 km, this results in an average width of 240 meters. The greatest width is 410 meters. The only remains of structures are foundations of a US Navy fuel tank from 1944. Bigej does not belong to the Reagan Test Site and many people from Kwajalein Island in the south come to the island for excursions and picnics. The vegetation consists of tropical palm trees and jungle. In recent years there have been plans to build holiday homes on Bigej.
