Bildstein Stora Hammars I

The Stones Stora Hammar Four Stones from the 8th century on Gotland in Sweden . They stood in the village of Stora Hammars and are now in the Bunge Museum .

description

The stones are up to three meters high and have a trapezoidal trunk with a rounded head (phallic shape). They are richly decorated in several rows with numerous illustrations in the rune stone style . These show themes from the Germanic poetry of gods and heroes, battle scenes and other depictions, sailing ships, men on horses. Some representations cannot be interpreted unequivocally.
