Boydell & Brewer is an English-language book publisher based in Woodbridge , Suffolk , England , specializing in the publication of historical and critical works.

Books

In addition to publications on British and general history, the company also publishes three series. These series - studies , editions and translations - contain material thematically dedicated to the Arthurian legend. There are also series devoted to studies in medieval German and French literature, Spanish theater, or early English texts. Depending on the subject, the books are assigned to either Woodbridge, Cambridge (UK), or Rochester, New York, where Boydell & Brewer's main office in North America is located. Imprints at Boydell & Brewer include: DS Brewer , Camden House , the Hispanic series Tamesis Books ("Tamesis" is the Spanish version of the River Thames that flows through London), the University of Rochester Press , James Currey and York Medieval Press .

The company was co-founded in 1978 by historians Richard Barber and Derek Brewer, when the Boydell Press and DS Brewer companies they founded merged.

On behalf of Camden House , the University of Rochester Press , James Currey and Tamesis Books , Boydell & Brewer publish and distribute for Victoria County History, the Royal Historical Society, the London Record Society and the Scottish Text Society and several other societies.
