The Education and Conference Center Springe (HVHS Springe) is an educational institution in Springe am Deister . As a folk high school, the institution is a recognized adult education institution in Lower Saxony and has the legal form of a registered association .

history

In the first years of the Weimar Republic, various Hanover groups of the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) drafted the plan to set up their own group home. For this purpose, a large area with a building was acquired on the outskirts of Springe. The first expansion phase was completed in 1925. From 1929 the facility was named after an Austrian socialist Victor-Adler -Heim. After the home was occupied in 1933, the house was used for the National Socialists' Landjahr youth camp and as a regional leadership school for the Hitler Youth . From 1943 the house was assigned to the Friederikenstift as an alternative hospital by the state insurance company. After the Second World War, the SPD was able to buy back the facility from the state insurance company and, from January 1948, start operating it as an educational facility for the party. In the further course the educational work was broadened. Training opportunities for trade unionists and employees were created. In the course of this development, it has been recognized as a folk high school since 1950. From 1951 to 1954, Erna Blencke, who had returned from American exile, was the head of the facility.
