State Insurance Company
Landesversicherungsanstalt ( LVA ) was the name of the statutory pension insurance provider in Germany , which was responsible for the implementation of the insurance of employed workers as well as self-employed craftsmen and tradespeople with compulsory insurance ; By September 30, 2005 there were 22 regionally responsible LVA.
The LVA were state bodies with legal capacity under public law with autonomous budget and asset management. The first LVA were established in 1890 as insurance companies (1918: 31 insurance companies).
From October 1, 2005, the statutory pension insurance in Germany was newly regulated. Since then, the state insurance institutions have been part of the new organization Deutsche Rentenversicherung as a legally independent regional level .
