The Federal Miners' Association was responsible for statutory pension insurance , health insurance and long-term care insurance for workers employed in the mining industry . She was a Federal statutory body (authority Seal implementing power ) with an autonomous budget and asset management, which as part of the organizational reform of the state pension scheme on 1 October 2005 with the Bahnversicherungsanstalt and the maritime fund the new German Pension Insurance for Miners-Bahn Lake merged .

The headquarters were in Bochum , where different buildings were used. In addition to the Bomin House, this also included buildings on Pieperstrasse, Universitätsstrasse, Huestrasse, Oskar-Hoffmann-Strasse, Lothringer Strasse and Wasserstrasse. In addition, there were regional district administrations (administrative offices). The Federal Knappschaft was established on August 1, 1969 through the amalgamation of the seven independent district miners' since 1945 (Ruhrknappschaft based in Bochum, Hessische Knappschaft in Kassel , Niederrheinische Knappschaft in Moers , Hannoversche Knappschaft in Hanover , Saarknappschaft in Saarbrücken , South German Knappschaft in Munich , Brühlerknappschaft in Cologne and Aachener Knappschaft in Aachen ); The Reichsknappschaft existed from 1923 to 1945 and was located in the Reichsknappschaftshaus in Berlin . The miners' union can look back on around 750 years of history; first approaches are already documented in 1260 ( Goslar ).

Since the new mini -job regulation (450 euro jobs) came into force on April 1, 2003, the Federal Miners' Association (since October 1, 2005 the Deutsche Rentenversicherung Knappschaft-Bahn-See, abbreviated KBS) has been responsible for the central administration of the mini-job center all of Germany taken over. Since then it has been the collection point for all contributions for marginal part-time employees.
