Mining hiking trail Bochum-Süd
The Bochum-Süd mining trail is a circular hiking trail in the Bochum- Stiepel area , which connects various historical mining sites from the early days of coal production in the Ruhr area .
description
The historical mining trail "Bochum-Süd" with a total length of 22 kilometers can be started in the Lottental at the former Klosterbusch colliery (station 5); it leads along the Kemnader See and the towpath along the Ruhr to the Koster Bridge. From here the “small” mining circuit “Am Bliestollen” (about six kilometers) is reached, which can be walked north to Kemnader Strasse and from there via Haarkampstrasse / Blankensteiner Strasse back to Koster Bridge. This circular route connects the two mines Carl Friedrichs Erbstolln and Bockhauser Tiefbau.
Via Kemnader Strasse / Sandfuhrstrasse / Königsallee / Markstrasse / Baumhofstrasse / Eichenweg, the “Bochum-Süd” mining trail, past the former Glücksburg, Julius Philipp, Hagensieperbank collieries, returns to the Lottental along the route of the “Glücksburger Pferdebahn”.
In 1986, the district representative for the Bochum-Süd district commissioned the Institute for Markscheidewesen of the Westfälische Berggewerkschaftskasse Bochum in conjunction with the Lower Monument Authority and the City of Bochum's Green Space Office to make historic mining in the south of Bochum accessible to a broader public.
