The hoist museum in Witten shows old machines for lifting and moving loads . It belongs to the JD Neuhaus company .

In 1977 Johann Diederich Neuhaus, from the sixth generation of the family company, began building the museum. Historical hoists owned by the company as well as corresponding items from competing companies and other industries are exhibited, supplemented by models and information boards.

The winch forge from 1745 has been restored and furnished in the style and function of the time around 1900. In the "JD Neuhaus winch factory", which was recreated in 1985, there is an old transmission drive that drives twelve machines (including milling machines , planers , lathe , band saws ).

The functional replica of the old crane of the Hanseatic City of Lüneburg from 1336, which was used to load and unload ships, is located in the outdoor area .

The museum in the Heven district is only open temporarily - mostly on Sundays. Group tours (e.g. for school classes) are possible if you are interested. It is the only museum of its kind in Germany .
