The Brockhauser Tiefbau colliery is a former hard coal mine in the Sundern district of Bochum .

In the mining area coal has been around for hours digging and it was in the 18th century tunnels mines have been laid. In the 19th century, some had already built their own underground construction shaft. The consolidation of the following mines in 1873 was intended to create a new joint underground construction shaft:

A Malakow tower was built above the shaft in 1874/75 . The masonry is made of quarry stone , the corners of the wall made of blocks of Ruhr sandstone . The window arches were emphasized with bricks. The shaft reached the 3rd level at a depth of approx. 200 m . The maximum production was 42,920 t / a with 185 employees. In 1886 the mine was taken over by the Carl Friedrichs Erbstollen mine . The shaft only served as a weather shaft , but was equipped with a fan in 1898 . In 1904, the mining in the mine field was completed and the shaft was filled in 1912 .

Today, the Malakow Tower, preserved as a ruin, is accessible via the Am Bliestollen street .
