The Monopol Grimberg 1/2 colliery was one of three hard coal mines in Bergkamen . It was located on Erich-Ollenhauer-Straße and subsequently belonged together with the Zeche Monopol Schacht Grimberg 3/4 to the East mine with a mine field of 285 km².

history

Shaft 1 was sunk in 1890 , in 1891 it reached the Carboniferous at 453 m depth . The promotion began in 1893. In 1995 was Schacht filled . The headframe above shaft 1 was demolished in 1997/1998.

The lying next to slot 2 was drilled in 1893, in 1894 he went at 82 m depth to break and rescheduled it went into operation 1896th At the end of the 1970s, Grimberg was modernized, with the modern winding tower above shaft 2 being built. Only a few years later, Grimberg was merged with the Haus Aden collieries in Oberaden and Heinrich Robert in Hamm, and mining in Bergkamen was discontinued. Shaft 2 has now been placed under monument protection, the winding tower with hoisting machine and the shaft hall are to be made accessible to the public. The establishment of a teaching gallery is also planned.

In December 2019, the Grimberg 2 shaft was filled with approx. 36,000 cubic meters of concrete and has therefore no longer served as a drainage shaft.

Today several recycling companies have set up shop on the site.
