The Deutsche Rentenversicherung Schwaben (until 2005 Landesversicherungsanstalt Schwaben) , headquartered in Augsburg, is a regional provider of the statutory pension insurance in Germany. It is a corporation under public law with self-administration mandate. The self-governing bodies are, on the one hand, the assembly of representatives and, on the other hand, the board of directors, which are made up equally of voluntary representatives of the insured and the employers. Deutsche Rentenversicherung Schwaben is headed full-time by a managing director.

It is also the liaison point for the Italian, Maltese, Moroccan and Tunisian pension schemes. The Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labor and Social Affairs is responsible for supervision .

history

On the basis of the Invalidity and Old Age Insurance Act of June 22, 1889, the Federal Council decided on March 8, 1890 to set up 31 insurance companies . The first insurance company in Swabia was then established for the administrative district of Swabia and Neuburg an der Donau on January 2, 1891, with its headquarters in Augsburg. A board of directors and a committee were planned as organs of the insurance company. The duties of the board of directors of the insurance company were performed by a Royal Government Council appointed by the Royal Ministry of the Interior.

In 1899 the name was changed from insurance company to state insurance company in order to emphasize the official character and to avoid confusion with private insurance companies. For two years, the state insurance company moved into the newly built main administration building at Augsburger Holbeinstrasse 10 (today the State Building Authority). From 1960 the head office was located at Blauenkap 18 in Augsburg (today's administrative center of the city of Augsburg).

The area of responsibility of the state insurance institute Swabia changed drastically as a result of the territorial reform in 1972. Swabia mainly transferred the city and the district of Neuburg an der Donau to the administrative district of Upper Bavaria and from there took over the main part of the former district of Aichach. Since then, there have been further minor corrections to the area of responsibility. Mainly it remained with the area of responsibility from 1972.

Between 1998 and 2001 the construction of the new office building of the state insurance institute took place at Dieselstrasse 9 in the Augsburg district of Oberhausen. In 2001, the building on the Blauer cape was cleared and then acquired by the city of Augsburg.

Since October 1, 2005, all pension insurance institutions (the Federal Insurance Agency for Salaried Employees , the State Insurance Institutions , the Seekasse , the Federal Miners' Association and the Railway Insurance Agency ) have been operating under the new common name Deutsche Rentenversicherung . The reorganization became necessary because the structures in the world of work had changed considerably in the past few decades. The historical separation of workers and salaried employees in the pension insurance scheme, which was no longer justifiable for a long time, was no longer necessary. According to a quota system, the insured are now assigned to either the German Federal Pension Insurance (formerly BfA), the regional bodies (formerly LVA) or the newly merged Deutsche Rentenversicherung Knappschaft-Bahn-See .

The most important goals of this restructuring in the pension insurance were more service at lower costs, a new distribution of tasks, an improvement of the advisory services and the creation of clear structures.
