In terms of budget volume, the Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland is the largest of the 14 regional providers of the German Pension Insurance . It is a self-governing corporation under public law that looks after around 2.0 million insured persons and pays around 1.5 million pensions.

Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland is based in Leipzig , with further locations in Erfurt and Halle. It is subject to the legal supervision of the Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Consumer Protection.

The regional carrier provides all services of the statutory pension insurance and is currently available in 27 information and advice centers and 11 consultation day locations throughout Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia as a personal contact for insured persons and pensioners.

On September 30, 2005, the Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland was formed from the merger of the state insurance institutions of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.

The managing director is Jork Beßler, the deputy managing director is Anton Sommer.

Tasks and achievements

Insurance and Pension

The tasks and services of the statutory pension insurance result directly from the Social Security Code. The service catalog of the statutory pension insurance includes, among other things, the payment of pensions. Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland processed around 108,700 pension applications in 2010 and pays around 1.6 million pensions on an ongoing basis. In addition, tax audits are carried out at employers and insurance law issues such as account clarifications, pension information and information and contribution procedures are processed. In 2010, the Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland issued around 253,000 account clarification notices.

Participation benefits

The regional carrier provides participation benefits on the basis of Section 9 of the Social Code VI. With its 27 information and advice centers and 11 consultation day locations in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, the Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland has a dense network of advice centers. Pension and abroad

If pension law periods are claimed in an EU / EEA member state or contracting state, a liaison office of a regional or federal sponsor is usually responsible. The Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland is the liaison office for pension matters with the countries of Bulgaria and Hungary. Of the approximately 6,320 pensions that the regional institution paid in 26 countries around the world in 2010, around 6,100 pensions were paid to Bulgaria and Hungary.

Training and study opportunities

The Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland offers young people training opportunities to become a social insurance clerk as well as places in the "Social Insurance" course for a "Bachelor of Laws" and in the "Social Security Management" course for a Bachelor of Laws.

Self-management

The Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland is a corporation under public law with a self-administration character. Self-administration means that the self-administration bodies - the representatives' assembly and the board of directors - have equal numbers of representatives from the insured and the employer. The members of these bodies are elected every six years in the context of social elections. The last social election took place on May 31, 2017.

Representative Assembly

The meeting of representatives consists of 15 representatives each from the insured and the employer. Among other things, it decides on the statutes and the budget, approves the annual accounts and elects the members of the board as well as the manager and the deputy manager. Sven Nobereit is the chairman of the employers' group in the meeting of representatives, and Annett Haase is chairman of the group of insured persons.

Board

The board consists of nine representatives each from the insured and the employer. He manages the Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland and represents it in and out of court. In addition, it issues general guidelines, for example for administration, investing the assets, drawing up the annual accounts or budget and deciding on construction measures, certain personnel matters and procurements that exceed a specified value. Detlev Lehmann is the chairman of the employers' group on the board, and Susanne Wiedemeyer is chairman of the group of insured persons.

The Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland has a managing director and a deputy managing director. Jork Beßler has been the managing director since August 1, 2017. Anton Sommer has been the deputy managing director since April 1, 2018.

The Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland works according to the regional principle. This means that the services are processed in the regions. The head office is in Leipzig. History of origin

Organizational reform in the statutory pension insurance

As of January 1, 2005, the "Law on the Organizational Reform of Statutory Pension Insurance" (RVOrgG) approved all pension insurance carriers - the Federal Insurance Agency for Salaried Employees (BfA), the 22 State Insurance Institutions (LVA), the Seekasse, the Federal Miners' Association and the Railway Insurance Agency - under the name " German Pension Insurance "summarized. The aim was to create a uniform definition of the insured and to improve proximity to the citizens, economic efficiency and effectiveness in the statutory pension insurance. In the course of the organizational reform, the legislator gave the German Pension Insurance the requirement to reduce administrative and procedural costs by a total of ten percent by 2010.
