Education plan (Switzerland)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An education plan is a term from the Swiss vocational training system. It is created according to the requirements of the higher education ordinance for one occupation and defines the interfaces between the three training partners that arise in the three- phase training model. This means that the cooperation between the training company , the inter-company courses (ÜK) and the vocational schools is coordinated.

Elements of the education plan

The curriculum is divided into individual parts. Usually these are:

  • Part A overview and competencies
  • Part B Lesson board for vocational school
  • Part C Organization, division and duration of the inter-company courses
  • Part D Qualification Process
  • Part E Approval and Entry into Force

Part A

The competencies and training goals are described here. This concerns on the one hand the technical competence, but on the other hand also the social and personal competence that the learners have after completing their training

part B

A lesson table is drawn up for the vocational school, derived from the description of the training objectives (Part A). The subjects to be taught and the number of lessons are stipulated in it.

Part C.

The inter-company courses are financed by the companies. In these courses, technical skills are imparted. The companies combine to form a training location, so to speak.

Part D.

This part regulates the procedures for the final examination. The final exams are very different from job description to job description, as individual training courses are made up of modules. Individual professions do not have a final exam until the end of their training. In other professions, the sum of the modules passed also counts as a degree. In both cases, a federal certificate of proficiency is issued.

Part E.

The valid legal framework is set out here and the applicable transition periods are determined.

Creation of an education plan

An education plan is created for one occupation in accordance with the specifications of the higher education ordinance. A working group is formed under the direction of the professional associations . In this working group representatives of the training commission, the professional associations, the vocational schools are invited to work on the draft of the education plan. If the draft has taken on an initial usable form, a consultation is carried out. In addition to the professional associations etc., the responsible vocational training offices are also involved in this consultation. After completion of the consultation, the working group tries to integrate all wishes and suggestions as well as all legal requirements into the training plan. Sometimes a political process sets in here and the ping-pong draft / consultation process can be repeated several times. In the end, it is up to the responsible vocational training offices to have a say in the matter and to approve or dispose of the training plans.
