Bill McCabe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

William G. (Bill) McCabe (* 1956/57 in Belfast ) is an Irish entrepreneur. With a fortune of over 150 million euros, he is one of the richest people on the island.

CBT Systems, SmartForce

His career began in 1987 as CEO of the IT company CBT Systems (from 1999: SmartForce ). This company had developed interactive educational software - first for use over local area networks and later over the Internet - and expanded to the United Kingdom and the United States under McCabe's direction. After sales growth from less than 5 million euros in 1992 to around 20 million euros, McCabe brought the company to the NASDAQ as the first Irish IT company in 1995 . McCabe stepped down as CEO at the end of 1996, at which point CBT was the world leader in interactive learning software.

After McCabe's resignation, the share price collapsed, prompting him to return to operational management of the company in 1998. Between 1998 and 2000 the rate rose from $ 6 to $ 53.

Venture capital investor

After the sale of the shares in SmartForce, McCabe participated in the venture capital market through various companies . He is chairman of the real estate fund LNC Properties , which manages a portfolio worth more than 500 million euros; including some properties in central London, Ireland, Great Britain, continental Europe and South Africa. In Germany he became known through the acquisition of the Waterfront Bremen . He is also chairman of Oyster Environmental Ltd., which owns the majority of the biofuel company Bedminster International , and director and shareholder of Parthus Technologies (later CEVA Inc.). He also has a stake of 15 million euros in Advanced Environmental Solutions Ltd., an Irish waste disposal company.
