Bill Press (* 1940 in Wilmington , Delaware ) is an American journalist and politician . Press became known, among other things, as chairman of the state association of the Democratic Party in California as well as through various radio and television programs and political columns in newspapers and magazines moderated by him.

Life and work

As a politician, Press held predominantly left-wing liberal positions, including the positions of Chief of Staff to California Senator Peter Behr and as Director of the California Office of Planning and Research under Governor Jerry Brown between 1975 and 1979. Press has, however, spent most of his career as a political figure Commentator worked.

Press began his career as a television journalist for the broadcasting stations KABC-TV and KCOP-TV; This was followed by engagements at MSNBC and CNN , where he appeared as a political commentator and discussion partner on various programs. The best known program co-hosted by Press was The Spin Room , a political debate led by the Press together with his junior partner Tucker Carlson , who acted as a counterpart to Press' progressive views as a mouthpiece for more conservative positions. Other influential shows hosted by Press included Crossfire (CNN) and Buchanan & Press (MSNBC), in which he appeared alongside Pat Buchanan .

In 2005 Press took on engagements as a blogger for the political blog The Huffington Post and as a radio host for Jones Radio Networks .
