Bill Willis (musician)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bill Willis is an American country and rockabilly musician.

Bill Willis was an artist from Greenwood , South Carolina , where he also worked as a musician. Around 1958, Willis recorded his first single with Jimmy Lawrence and the Willis Family on the small Rocket Records label from Oregon . At the end of the 1950s, his next single was released on the Starday package label Dixie Records , but on the B-side a song by Goldie Norris was pressed. In March 1960, the rockabilly song Boogie Woogie All Night was followed by its second Dixie release. A short time later - also in March - Willis' last record was released by Dixie. But due to the lack of marketing, the records did not make it beyond regional successes at first, especially since the Starday singles were only pressed in small numbers. However, today (2009) the plates are in great demand among collectors due to their rarity and sometimes reach high prices.

After that, Willis retired from the music business.
