Billy Stewart
Billy Stewart (born March 24, 1937 in Washington, DC , † January 17, 1970 in North Carolina ) was an American singer and keyboardist. Together with Marvin Gaye and Don Covay he was a member of the band Rainbows. He also played in Bo Diddley's band and got him a contract with Chess Records . Here he released his first solo single, Billy's Blues in 1956 . On January 17, 1970, he and three band members died on the way to a gig when his car broke through a bridge railing and fell into a river.
