The Bilstein Tower is a lookout tower in Marsberg . The tower stands at a height of 387  m above sea level. NN and thus 133 m above the center of Niedermarsberg on the west side of the Bilstein .

history

At the end of the 19th century, observation towers were built in many places in the low mountain range to open up the regions for tourism. In Marsberg, the future mayor Rentzing was particularly committed to building a tower. It was completed in 1892 after twelve years of construction.

The foundation of the tower is an eight-sided quarry stone base . A brick round tower , which is modeled on Rhenish castles , sits on top of this . It ends with a crenellated wreath . The observation tower is 26 meters high. A ruin was built around the tower .

The Bilstein Tower has been a listed building since 2007 .
