Bind on pickup

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bind on Pickup ( engl. "Bind when picked up," rarely Bound On Pickup "Binds when picked up") referred to in Multiplayer - computer games special items (most items mentioned) and the underlying mechanism that is applied to this. By picking up, receiving or creating such objects, they are bound to the player or his avatar and, in contrast to other objects, can no longer be passed on to other players.

The purpose of this property is that such items can under no circumstances be passed on to other players. This applies above all to items that should remain as rare as possible due to their particularly outstanding properties, or that should only be accessed by the player by solving certain tasks.

It is quite possible that the avatar will find the same BoP items several times and at the latest then you could pass them on to other players who have not taken the necessary effort. Bind On Pickup also restricts the mostly unwanted trading of virtual items with real money. Objects that are related to the completion of tasks ( quests ) are usually BoP so that all players can do their tasks in the game themselves.

"Bind On Pickup" is mostly abbreviated to BOP or BoP in MMORPG jargon . Another name is Bind / Bound On Acquire ( BoA ) "bind on acquisition".
