Bintsuke

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bintsuke-abura ( Japanese 鬢 付 け 油 , 'temple hair oil' ) or Bintsuke for short ( 鬢 付 [kurz] ) is a Japanese pomade that mainly consists of wax and hardened chamomile oil . Instead, simpler grades use the cheaper rapeseed oil . The odorless mixture is perfumed during production so that it has a characteristic, sweet scent.

Bintsuke is available in cans or bars with different consistencies. It is melted by the body heat in the hands and gives the hair hold and strong shine. Today it is only used for shaping traditional hairstyles and wigs, and as a primer for Oshiroi powder, in kabuki theater, with geisha and in sumo .
