Biolith
As Biolithe (Greek. Bios , life and lithos , rock) are biogenic sediments and sedimentary rocks referred to the most part of the remains of animals, Zoolithe or plants, phytoliths , are made. According to the paleobotanist and petroleum geologist Robert Potonié (1889–1974) , they are divided petrographically into combustible biolites, called caustobiolites , and non-combustible rocks , called acaustobiolites .
The caustobiolites include, for example, coal rock , digested sludge rock such as copper shale and resins . Acaustobiolites include radiolarite (silica schist ) and shell and coral limestone.
