Wavy lime

Wavy limestone is a morphological name for limestone with typically wavy, wrinkled layers.

It occurs mainly in Trias - formations on, particularly common in Central Europe in the lower deposits of limestone -Formation in time by a shallow sea covered Germanic Basin . As marine, often undulating sediments, they differ significantly from the continental deposits of the preceding red sandstone era. In older publications, the term "wave limestone" was therefore also used as a synonym for the layer sequence which is now lithostratigraphically referred to as Lower Muschelkalk .
