Birger Sandberg

Birger "Farsan" Sandberg (* 1918 ; † June 28, 1998 ) was a Swedish sport functionary who sat on the board of Svenska Fotbollförbundet for over three decades .

Career

Sandberg played football at a young age, and in 1937 he and his school team won the Crown Prince's Cup . He then played for several years at Djurgårdens IF as a defender , before he became involved in the club's management from 1946. In 1959 he appeared at times as a coach and was thus instrumental in winning the Von Rosens Cup as the Swedish national champion.

From 1952 Sandberg was involved in association work. First he worked for the regional association of Stockholm Fotbollförbund , later also for Svenska Fotbollförbundet. There he sat on the board from 1955, between 1969 and his resignation from the board in 1986 he was vice chairman of the association. He headed the association's technical commission.

Sandberg published the writings Utbildningsekonomi and Företagsutbildningen och dess ekonomiska problem .

Sandberg died in June 1998 at the age of 79 after a long illness.
