Birgit Eickelmann

Birgit Eickelmann (* 1971 ) is a German educational scientist and teaches school education at the University of Paderborn .

Eickelmann studied mathematics and physics at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and completed her legal clerkship at the Hagen study seminar from 1997 to 1999. She was advisor for these subjects in the school service until 2012, whereby she was seconded to the Institute for School Development Research (IFS) at the University of Dortmund in 2003 . In 2009 she received her doctorate in educational science with summa cum laude and qualified as a professor in 2012 in educational science with Wilfried Bos . She received the Venia Legendiin educational science with a focus on empirical school research. In 2012 she received a chair for school pedagogy at the University of Paderborn and has been head of the national research center of the ICILS 2018 study ( International Computer and Information Literacy Study ) since July 2015 . From 2015 to 2017 she was Deputy Head of the Institute for Educational Science. She is an expert on digital media in schools.

With the IEA study ICILS 2018, the computer and information-related competencies of eighth graders were measured for the second time after 2013 in an international comparison.
