Wilfried Bos

Wilfried Bos (* 1953 ) is a German educational scientist and university professor. He was a leader in school performance surveys such as TIMSS .

Bos grew up in holders on and completed the commercial school . From 1972–1975 he studied social pedagogy at the Münster University of Applied Sciences , 1978–1985 educational science with the minor subjects sociology, psychology and ethnology with the minor subjects folklore and sinology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. Then he became a teacher of German as a second foreign language at the National Taiwan Normal University and a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service at the National Taiwan Normal University and National Taiwan University in Taipei. In 1988 the doctorate to Dr. phil. in Munster. In 1989 he became a university assistant for comparative education at the University of Hamburg , where he qualified as a professor in 1995 in comparative education. 1997–1998 he worked at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin in the project management TIMSS / III. In 1999 he taught as a university lecturer for qualitative research methods at the Erfurt University of Education , in 1999 as professor for school management and evaluation at the Institute for School Development Research at the University of Dortmund and 2000-2005 as professor for quantitative methods and international educational research in the educational science department of the University of Hamburg, finally in 2005 until 2014 as professor for educational research and quality assurance at the University of Dortmund.

The emeritus founding director of the Institute for School Development Research Hans-Günter Rolff was followed in 2005 by Wilfried Bos as the new managing director until 2014, who has finally retired since March 2019.
