Birgit Huebner

Birgit Huebner (born June 27, 1966 in Bonn ) is a German artist who works with installations and photographs on the subject of speaking, singing and dancing.

Life

She studied art from 1989–1993 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Hüppi. In 1989 she received a scholarship to study at the Ecole nat. sup. des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 2000 she was the recipient of the Art Prize of the City of Düsseldorf. In 2003 a project grant for “ Rohkunstbau ” at Groß Leuthen Castle near Lübben followed .

Between 2000 and 2009, Huebner received teaching assignments for sculpture, installation, performance and art education at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, BU Wuppertal, HHU Düsseldorf and the University of Koblenz. From 2004 to 2008 she worked as a curator at the Kunstraum Düsseldorf. As an art mediator, she has been working in the artistic and scientific collaboration in the cultural education department at the museum kunst palast in Düsseldorf since 2001 .

Birgit Huebner is a member of the German Association of Artists . She lives in Düsseldorf.

Birgit Huebner primarily deals with the topic of people and their communication practices. She not only aims to investigate verbal communication through language and writing, but also explores the possibilities of expression through dance and song. The starting point is often one's own body, whose experiences Birgit Huebner transforms into the pictorial. On the basis of the dance theory of Rudolf Laban and Irmgard Bartenieff's own dance theory by Pina Bausch's student Wolf Werner Wolf, Huebner explores the tension between verbal and non-verbal communication with her collages, photographs, installations and performances.
