Birgitta Falk

Birgitta Falk (born August 28, 1961 ) is a German art historian . She is the head of the Aachen Cathedral Treasury .

She studied art history, building history and history at the Technical University of Aachen and received her doctorate there in 1992 with a thesis on medieval portrait reliquaries .

From 1992 to 1994 she prepared an exhibition about the workshop of the goldsmith Franz Xaver Hellner in Kempen . From 1994 to 1996 she was a volunteer at the State Museums in Munich . From 1996 to 1998 she headed the arts and crafts department at the Kestner Museum in Hanover . From 1998 to 2002 she was a research assistant at the Weser Renaissance Museum in Lemgo . From 2002 to 2016 she was director of the cathedral treasury in Essen ; In addition, she has been in charge of the St. Ludgerus Treasury in Essen-Werden since 2005 . In November 2016 she succeeded Georg Minkenberg as head of the Aachen Cathedral Treasury .

Her academic focus is on treasure art and sculpture from the Middle Ages and historicism .
