Biria-Waza ( Akkadian M Bir 5 -ia-wa-za ), also Birijawaza, Birjawaza, Biryawaza (in earlier readings Namiawaza ) was the son of a Šutarna. As a kind of governor of the Egyptians, he exercised a position of power in the area of Ube and Kumidi . His work is from the end of the reign of Amenhotep III. to date to the early years of Akhenaten (approx. 1355 BC to 1347 BC).

Biria-Waza was a loyal vassal of Egypt , who was involved in armed conflicts by Aziru of Amurru and Aitakama of Kadesh and could not be persuaded to join the Hittite Empire. The attacks on the Biria-Waza region are documented in the Amarna letter EA 151 from Abi-Milki : Aitakama from Kadesch and Aziru from Amurru are at war with Biria-Waza. He is also mentioned in other Amarna letters or asks for military help against rebellious units in other countries.
