Abi-Milki (Tyros)
Abi-Milki or Abimilki ( Sumerian Lugal Abi / Abu , Akkadian Scharrum Abu / Abi ) initially clad around 1347 BC. BC the rank of city prince of Tire , before Amenophis IV. Furnished him with the Egyptian title Rabisu ( general ) and higher powers. Amenophis IV had previously confirmed in Amarna letter EA 147 Abi-Milki after the death of his father and the inherited title Amelu of Tire in office.
Historical background
Following Amenhotep IV's call to spread the political news in Kinaha , several other city lords rebelled against this decision. The background was the vacant Egyptian position of Rabisu in the Tire garrison , which Amenophis IV did not fill with an Egyptian for organizational reasons. Abi-Milki calls himself Rabisu von Tyros in the Amarna letter EA 149 .
Zimrida and Aziru , who were previously in an alliance with Abi-Milki, announced this in connection with the conquest of Sumuru and occupied the areas around Tire. Abi-Milki informed Amenhotep IV of this dangerous situation in several letters. In Amarna letter EA 151 Abi-Milki also mentions the Danuneans : See, dangerous opponents are besieging Tire all around. The king of Danuna has died in the meantime, his brother is now king. He is peaceful towards me .
In the further course of the letter Abi-Milki warns of the rebels: See, the fortress Tire Sea is running out of fresh water and wood. I will send you Ilu Milku as a messenger. There are currently no Hittite troops here, but Aitakama of Kadesh is fighting with Aziru against Biryawaza of Damascus . Meanwhile, Zimrida has strengthened himself with units and ships from Aziru, he is besieging me, it is very dangerous.
