Bishoftu ( Amharic : ቢሾፍቱ, the name comes from the Oromo language , meanwhile Debre Zeyit or Debre Zeyt , Amharic: ደብረ ዘይት), is a city in Ethiopia and is located southeast of Addis Ababa on the railway line to Djibouti . For 2006 their population is given as 107,344. The city is located in the Oromiyaa region .

Debre Zeyit is a vacation spot surrounded by five crater lakes :

  • Lake Bishoftu,
  • Lake Hora,
  • Lake Bishoftu Guda,
  • Lake Koriftu and

Infrastructure

The city is home to the Harar Meda Airport the Ethiopian Air Force . Plane crash in March 2019

On March 10, 2019 crashed Boeing 737 MAX 8 on the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 shortly after takeoff with 149 passengers and 8 crew members on the way from Addis Ababa airport to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Nairobi at Bishoftu from. All inmates were killed.
