The Bismarck monument in Poznan was ceremoniously unveiled on October 11, 1903 and stood at today's Plac Adama Mickiewicza . It was designed by Gustav Eberlein , who created other monuments and was involved in the design of the castle district in Poznan.

The monument belonged to the Kaiserforum, which was erected in the following period up to 1910 and consisted of the new residential palace , the opera house , the post office, the settlement commission , the Royal Academy , the Music Academy in Poznan , and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer . After the end of the First World War , Posen became Polish again. In the course of time, all monuments from Prussian rule were removed by the authorities, including the Bismarck memorial in 1919. A little north of the original location, the memorial to the workers' uprising of 1956 was erected.
