The Bismarckian column was located in the nightingale gorge near Morhange , in German Mörchingen.

Mörchingen was part of the German Empire from 1871 to 1918. The 6.70 m high fire pillar without a viewing function was created according to the " Götterdämmerung " design by Wilhelm Kreis . This name can be traced back to the student body's competition announced in 1899, which was intended to encourage the construction of as many fire pillars as possible (and not observation towers).

The inauguration took place on August 25, 1901. From 1902 onwards, the pillar was lit on April 1st every birthday of Bismarck. In November 1918 the tower was demolished by the French. In today's France only the Bismarck tower in Metz has been preserved.
