Diocese of Tianjin
The diocese of Tianjin (lat. Dioecesis Tienzinensis ), located in the People's Republic of China , was founded on April 27, 1912 as the Apostolic Vicariate Ce-Li Marittimo and changed its name to the Apostolic Vicariate of Tientsin on December 3, 1924.
The Vincentines mission area was elevated to a diocese on April 11, 1946 and in 1950 counted 50,000 Catholics (1.4%) in 23 parishes with 29 diocesan priests , 55 religious priests and 122 religious sisters . Stephen Li Side has been Tianjin's Underground Bishop since 1983.
