The Diocese of Yangku (Latin: Dioecesis Iamcuvensis ), located in the People's Republic of China , was founded as the Apostolic Prefecture of Yangku on September 13, 1933 , was elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate on July 11, 1933 , before becoming a diocese on April 11, 1946 .
The diocese, which belongs to the ecclesiastical province of Tsinan [Jinan] and is 3,244 km² in size, counted 10,237 Catholics in 1960, which represented 0.7% of the population in this region. With 41 diocesan priests, 12 religious priests and 26 religious sisters, it was originally a mission area of the Steyler missionaries , who also provided the apostolic vicars.
Since the personal situation of the diocese was developed at an early stage, Yangku was able to greet a local in Thomas Niu Hui-ching as the last vicar apostle and first bishop. He died on February 28, 1973. Due to the political situation, the diocese could no longer be occupied until today.
