Bitmex

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BitMEX is a trading platform where users can trade certain derivatives with Bitcoins . With an average 24 hour volume of 3 billion euros, it is one of the most influential exchanges on the Bitcoin Future market . Bitmex is operated by HDR Global Trading Limited, which is registered in the Seychelles and has offices worldwide.

history

BitMEX was founded in 2014 by Arthur Hayes, Ben Delo and Samuel Reed with the support of family and friends. Delo is the first Briton who made his fortune as a dollar billionaire trading Bitcoin, and is also the nation's youngest self-made billionaire.

In July 2019, Nouriel Roubini , a critic of cryptocurrencies , published that the exchange was involved in illegal activities that could cause traders to take too much risk and trade against customers. Two days later, it was reported by Bloomberg that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) was investigating BitMEX to see if it was breaking rules by allowing Americans to trade on the platform.
