The remains of the Bite-about Pele

Bite-about Pele is a dilapidated Peel Tower or Bastle House in the parish of Eccles between the villages of Fogo and Swinton , south of Duns in the Scottish county of Berwickshire (now the Scottish Borders county ).

The building dates from the 16th century and still belongs to the Trotter family today . It got its peculiar name (English: bite-around-peel) during a siege by the English , during which the defenders shared their food rations bite by bite.
