Location of Berwickshire in Scotland

Berwickshire ( Scottish Gaelic Siorrachd Bhearaig ) is one of the traditional counties of Scotland , located in south-east Scotland on the North Sea and the border with England . The original administrative seat and eponymous place was the city of Berwick-upon-Tweed , but since 1482 it has belonged to England and therefore no longer to Berwickshire.

As an administrative county with the capital Duns , Berwickshire existed between 1890 and 1975 and then became part of the Borders region . The Borders region was dissolved in 1996 and transformed into the Scottish Borders Council Area . Berwickshire is still one of the Lieutenancy Areas of Scotland today .
