Please get in touch! was a German real-life documentary series that was broadcast on the private broadcaster Sat.1 . The show was moderated by Jörg Wontorra . "Please register!" Was produced in the ARRI TV studios in Munich.
The show was canceled in 1998 because of poor audience ratings , which were attributed on the one hand to the artificial sentimentality of the series and on the other hand to the trend towards more aggressive formats on television such as talk shows or other reality formats.
In 2012, Sat.1 started with Julia Leischik sucht: Please report a successful remake attempt.
concept
Please get in touch! tried to establish contacts between missing persons and relatives. Private individuals who directed their appeal to the missing person were invited to the show. In a replayed film, the personal background of the missing person was reported and the day of the disappearance was reconstructed.
criticism
Whether the show's production team really wanted to find the missing people is doubted by critics, as no detective investigations were carried out. The program was accused of wanting to drive up the audience rating with the desperation of the relatives, which the station also succeeded in doing. The average audience rating between December 1992 and March 1993 was almost six million viewers.
