Bixquert (also partially listed as Bisquert ) is a valley and a place in the urban area of Xàtiva (Valencian, Játiva in Spanish) in the Valencian Autonomous Community , Spain.

history

It is mentioned for the first time in 1248 in the land distribution register "Llibre del Repartiment de València" by James I of Aragon . This register contains all cities, areas, hamlets, etc. which are in the XIII. Century were taken from the Moors with information on the new owners (knights, soldiers, nobles, clergy ...), including the date of donation. At that time, Bixquert was an Arab village (alqueria), as there were many at that time.

On May 26, 1248, the King of Aragon assigned parcels of land in Bixquert to 23 people including Girbert Novarello, Pere Godalest and Pere Satorre, as you can read in the Llibre del Repartiment: "Girberto Novarello, P. Godalest, P. Çatorre et XX sociis vestris: unicuique, III iovatas in alcheriis de Bischert, que sunt in termino Xative. geography

The Bixquert valley is framed in the south by the Sierra Grossa, in the north by the Sierra Castell and Vernissa and in the east by the Albaida river. The valley is also shown on a map around 1485.
