Gerd Ribatis

Gerd Ribatis (born December 22, 1919 in Tilsit ; † April 7, 2001 in Hamburg ) was a German actor , speaker and radio journalist.

Life

Gerd Ribatis attended the Tilsiter Realgymnasium . In 1946 he became a permanent employee of the Northwest German Broadcasting Corporation , and in 1959 he was the spokesman for contributions in the Tagesschau . In 1963 he gained particular fame when he stepped in as the main spokesman for Diether von Sallwitz, who had died in an accident . With Gerd Skolmar, director of the largest German-language radio program in the United States , Ribatis organized tape greetings from German citizens to relatives and friends in the United States in the 1960s. He also produced the program Das Portrait , which was supposed to give an impression of life in the Federal Republic. In addition to his work as a radio presenter, Ribatis also appeared as a speaker in radio plays (including in the SWR production of Arthur Schnitzler's Fräulein Else ) and produced sound documentations, including a. appeared on record. In 1949 Ribatis had a brief marriage with the actress Hilde Weissner , with whom he had a son.
