Diether von Sallwitz

Diether von Sallwitz (born January 11, 1922 , † January 3, 1963 in Hamburg ) was a German television journalist and news anchor .

Moderation

Diether von Sallwitz was from 1959 to 1963 spokesman for the news program Tagesschau on ARD . He moderated alternately with Manfred Schmidt , Karl-Heinz Köpcke , Martin Thon and Cay Dietrich Voss . Since the program was founded in 1952, he had commented on the television programs from the off. On January 3, 1963, von Sallwitz was found dead in his garage. NDR employee Gerd Ribatis stepped in for him at short notice as a spokesman for the Tagesschau. Diether von Sallwitz died shortly before his 41st birthday. He had a son.
