Siahkal ( Persian سياهكل, DMG Siāhkal ) is a city in the Iranian province of Gilan .
Siahkal became known on February 8, 1971 when a group of guerrillas called Volks fedajin ( Organization of the People's Fedajin Guerrillas of Iran ) raided a police station in order to free arrested comrades. This attack, in which three police officers were killed, is considered to be the start of the guerrilla movement against Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi .
The administrative district has a population of 47,866.
