Bjorn Gieseck

Björn Gieseck (born August 3,  1975 in Hagen ) is a former German basketball player . The 2.06 meter long inside player was under contract during his career with Bayer 04 Leverkusen and DJK Würzburg in the basketball Bundesliga . His brother Robin also  played in the Bundesliga.

career

Gieseck, who was appointed to the selection teams of the German Basketball Federation as a youth, played for Brandt Hagen and Bayer 04 Leverkusen , was German champion with Bayer in 1993 and 1995, before he went to the United States in 1995 and  played basketball at Butler University until 1999 and studied. He stood for Butler in 108 games on the floor and averaged 3.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per encounter.

In 1999 Gieseck returned to Leverkusen and played for two years for the Rhinelander in the basketball Bundesliga and in the European Cup. In the 2001/02 season he first played for Bundesliga competitor DJK Würzburg and moved to the 2nd basketball division at OSC Magdeburg during the year .

Gieseck then played in the second division for Düsseldorf Magics until 2007 , where he was team captain and, at the same time, employed as the team's marketing manager. In the 2007/08 season he switched to coaching and was head coach for the regional league team NVV Lions Mönchengladbach for a year . Later he was still active as a player for the upper division BG Monheim.

Gieseck's main job was as a financial advisor.
