Björn Jansen (born July 21, 1977 in Aachen ) is a German local politician ( SPD ) and was the acting mayor of the city of Aachen from 2009 to 2015 .

Björn Jansen completed a degree in business administration at RWTH Aachen University and graduated in 2008 with a thesis on the standardization of IT in the municipal environment with a degree in business administration . Since 2010 he has been working as a consultant in the energy and water industry.

After Jansen had joined the SPD years earlier, he was elected to the City Council of Aachen in the 2004 local elections. In 2009 he was able to repeat this success and was also elected one of the three mayors alongside Margrethe Schmeer ( CDU ) and Hilde Scheidt ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). In 2014 he ran for the office of mayor and was re-elected as deputy mayor after losing the election. In the City Council of Aachen, Jansen is mainly involved as deputy chairman of the finance committee and as a member of the audit committee.

In addition to his party membership in the SPD, Björn Jansen is also a member of the supervisory board of the Aachen spa and bathing company and the association assembly of the Sparkasse Aachen , as well as the deputy chairman of the administrative board of the Aachen student union . In addition, he is chairman of the Stadtsportbund Aachen e. V. and since 2011 also President of the newly founded RegioSportBund Aachen e. V., which is a merger of the city and community sports associations in the Aachen city ​​region with the Aachen City Sports Association.

In 2015 he resigned from his local political offices and became managing director of the spa and bathing company Aachen .

Björn Jansen is married to Daniela Jansen , who won a direct mandate for the SPD Aachen in the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2012 . He has two children with her.
